Beautiful Sight of Music

An upcoming job on May 27 is photographing some musicians and I thought I would practice a bit!

Of course my favorite model is my beautiful daughter - this time with her gorgeous new violin. She and I went over today after a Sunday afternoon nap and used basically the same setup that I had earlier for the mother’s day portraits. Played with the flash a bit and this is what we came away with. Totally awesome if you ask me! Enjoy a few of the best!

Appalachian Trail: Views with a Topaz filter

We started walking from the town of Duncannon, which is located on the Susquehannah River above Harrisburg. We had to cross the busy highway river bridge, but then after crossing over some railroad tracks we found the actual trailhead and started climbing up the ridge of mountains that head North East. As we climbed we caught some beautiful scenes of the town below through the trees. I got some pretty shots and I ran them through a software filter and voila - some very pleasing images to my eye! Let me know what you think!

Unfortunately I am only running a trial of this software and am getting to be rather addicted to it. Anyone want to pay for it for me? :)

The Scranton Lace Factory!

The Scranton Lace factory was established in 1897 and closed its doors shortly after I arrived here in town over 10 years ago. At one time I heard this factory produced the majority of lace in the whole country and thousands of workers teemed its floors. Since it closed it has only gathered dust - until the past few months when it seems financing has been coming together and new efforts are underway to totally gut and remake it into a mix-used complex. Just today I was talking with a fellow who lives right across the street from this incredible building and he told me that recently huge amounts of its contents was auctioned off. It is true that much of the contents of these buildings have been cleared out - but over the last week I have been allowed in and I found PLENTY to be thrilled about as a photographer.

More iPhone fun... at the Parade!

A lot of the time I don’t have my camera with me. But I almost always have my iPhone with me - which DOES have a camera - albeit one with quite a few limitations... But as the saying goes... “The best camera is the camera that you have with you!”

One of the recent times I was without my DSLR was at the Scranton St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Before our float started moving there was a two hour wait. And so what better thing to do but take a few picts, right?

Experimenting with iPhone camera apps

So.... I have had my iPhone for over six months and I have quite a few camera and photo editing apps on it... Unfortunately I haven’t done a whole lot with them. Each of them have different abilities and “talents” (so to speak), and I just haven’t had the time to learn them all... So anyway, I thought I would spend a bit of time experimenting with a few apps on a bike I took pictures of on my morning walk... Enjoy!
