Appalachian Trail: Duncannon Snapshots

We left our car behind Doyl’s Hotel and walked through town on what amounted to “Church Street”! If you want to be religious, THIS town is IT! But it was kind of fun greeting the older folks sitting on their porches and the kids on their skateboards. I took shots of all the churches (one on each block... it was funny), and then a few other odds and ends.

Enjoy the sights of this rather sweet town!

New Brunswick Beach

Last summer I took some time for a few days in the Canadian Maritimes. I blogged quite a few pictures of them on my old blog, but I certainly didn’t exhaust my treasure of worthy picts.... The very first morning there I spent some time on a beach and collected a few shots... I just was touching them up a bit more (not that really can afford the time this Holy Week to do silly stuff!) Enjoy!

Philadelphia Streets

On March 24th a van load of guys headed for Philadelphia for the day. An adventure for the Lord. We spent the morning and early afternoon painting a Lutheran church, but finally at about 3pm we headed for city central and Love Park to walk in the paths of Philadelphia’s homeless and to help distribute an evening meal. I really wanted to spend more time alone shooting... it is always the pits trying to shoot when you are part of a group and have to tag along... but I did get a few shots that I hope capture the afternoon on the streets...

Our tour guide’s name was Harvey. Amazing fellow! He was homeless on the streets of Philly for 18 years and now ministers to and advocates for the homeless in a passionate way. Here he is by his “freedom wall” that inspires him so.

Doors and "Stuff" - the final Philly post

For my final blog post I will show some of my favorite door pictures and a few other miscellaneous picts that haven’t “fit” into any of the other post themes...

As per my fetish for doors, my favorite pic is this one of two doors right next to each other, but in contrasting conditions!

Eastern State Penitentiary

Just a few blocks away from the Philadelphia Museum of Art - and all its beauty - is the extreme opposite: the darkness and fear of the historic State Penitentiary. Billed as a revolutionary institution in many ways when it was built in the early 1800s, it was finally shut down in 1971. Through the decades it housed many thousands of criminals... among them were Al Capone - and these two characters: Hannah and Sarah Bjornstad (partners in crime! haha!)

Philadelphia Museum of Art

The Philadelphia Museum of Art was very fabulous and I would suggest everyone go and experience it. We went down on a Holiday and they were open with a donation of whatever we chose to give. THAT certainly was a blessing, but the BEST thing about the day was that it was not so very crowded. That helped it be a fabulous 2.5 hours that we were there...

New York, New York!

Well... I am going to try again to keep up a good photography blog... Let’s see... MAYBE if I did it differently! :)

I will still have the old blog up (see “Old Blog” at the top and to the right) for a while if you want to check out the old entries, but I am hoping this new format and software will be better. Please let me know at the bottom how you like it by “Commenting” at the bottom.
